Archie-FisherArchie Fisher

One of the most important folk singers, songwriters and guitarists to emerge during the second wave of the folk revival, Archie Fisher MBE came from a family of traditional singers that included his sisters, Cilla and Ray.

Over the course of a long and truly creative career he has recorded a clutch of fine albums and has appeared on dozens of compilations, such as Topic’s Bonny Lass Come O’er The Burn and he has guested on albums by fellow Scots, including Barbara Dixon.

He worked for many years as a documentary producer with BBC Scotland and for close on thirty years he presented one of the best radio folk programmes ever, Travelling Folk.

Still performing and singing, he has written some of the best songs of the last forty years, including such modern classics as The Final Trawl and The Shipyard Apprentice.
